Oh My Hues is thrilled to announce our debut art market event in August 2024, and we're all about celebrating the fresh and emerging talent in the world of art, stationery, prints, zines, and more.We're so excited and honoured to have you here! Theme

✨ Yum Cha ✨We're from Hong Kong and love yum cha (and ordering in our terrible Cantonese) 😂 What better way than to infuse our background into this market! Please note you do not have to produce anything specifically for this theme but you are more than welcome to!


Pricing

Full table: $240 for two days (approximately 180cm x 70cm // 2 chairs)Half table: $120 for two days (~90cm x 70cm // 1 chair)Each artist will be allowed one helper to assist during the event.For shared tables, submit separate applications and specify the other business name on your form.To be placed next to a specific artist, please inform us and we'll try to accommodate your request.

Venue

The Queen Victoria Women’s Centre is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung people of the Kulin nation. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded and pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend this respect to other Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Australians.From the QVWC website:
"Visitors with mobility aids accessing the centre from Lonsdale street are advised to take the ramp on the western (left-hand side) of the building along Shilling Lane. This will direct them to the automated doors at the rear of QVWC. Visitors accessing the centre from the QV Courtyard, eg Artemis Lane, will find stairs connecting the QV Courtyard to the rear automated doors.
Visitors with mobility aids are directed to use the platform lift, proximate to the QVWC SHOP, to access the rear automated doors.Within QVWC, a passenger lift can be used to access all floors from ground up. The lift has a doorway of 90cm, an internal depth of 209cm and a maximum load of 1125kg. Where there are small steps or accessibility issues, platform lifts are installed or portable ramps are provisioned."Wayi Djerring Room:
"Located on Level 4. The venue and balcony are fully accessible... The closest accessible bathroom is on the Ground floor."

General information

Terms and conditions:All applications will be reviewed and we will reply to all applicants to advise the outcome.All art/medium is welcomed and we will place preference on original art. If you do create fan art, we still encourage you to apply.No AI, plagiarised or NSFW art allowed.Artists must be 18 years+ or have a parent/guardian with them for the duration of the event.Cancellations up to 1 month (by July 17th, 2024) will be given a full refund. After this date we will do our best to find replacements and refund you where possible.Public liability insurance ($10 million coverage) is required for all sellers for the duration of the market. We will ask successful applicants to send their PLI certificates to [email protected] by July 31st 2024.You are only allowed to sell art/products that you have created. On-selling another artists products is prohibited.You are required to be present during opening/trading hours and we ask that you do not pack up early as it can be disruptive to your fellow artists.You are responsible for providing your own tablecloth and display items. Please ensure they are clean and not damaged.Please be courteous of your fellow artists. We ask that you do not place additional props/displays outside of the table space. Market checklist
Here is a PDF checklist and some tips that may help you pre-market, on the day, and post-market:



Assistant form
Please fill out this form with the name of your table assistant / helper. Every artist may have 1 helper with them behind the table. They can be different people (e.g. if your friends are taking turns to help you).
We have also included a section for you to write a thank you message to them if you wish! We will print these out and place them on your table when you arrive to set up.


3. Host contact details

The best form of contact is via email at [email protected]. A few days prior to the event, we will list a phone number for emergency contact.We will do our best to keep on top of emails. Please avoid Instagram messages.


4. Ticket information

This art market is a paid ticketed event. Tickets are available via Humanitix.Early-bird tickets: $8.50 per person. Children 12 and under can enter free but they must still register for a ticket. The first 200 ticket sales on each day will receive a limited-edition sticker sheet on arrival.Walk-in: $10 per person

6. Access

From Lonsdale street, there is a ramp on the left-hand-side of building (Shilling Lane) which takes you to the rear entrance via QV courtyard. This is best if you have a cart or trolley.Please note the automated doors on the Lonsdale street side will be closed for the duration of the event. Follow the ramp via Shilling lane and it will bring you to the QV courtyard.Alternative access is from Russell St and Artemis Lane. Note there is no ramp from this side.If you are arriving from the QV shopping centre carpark, there are lifts that bring you from the carpark to QV square.There is a lift within QVWC, which can be used to access Level 4. The lift has a doorway of 90cm, an internal depth of 209cm and a maximum load of 1125kg. 7. Parking

A small number of curbside City of Melbourne parks are located in front of QVWC on Lonsdale St, with a larger volume of curbside and central parks found on Russel St proximate to Artemis Lane. Disabled parks are also located in these bays.Please Google and double check the prices and details in case they have been updated since the time this is published:

  • Enter via Lonsdale, Russell, or Little Lonsdale Street.

  • Weekend special $15 per day. Height limit 2.1m.

  • 217 Lonsdale Street (directly opposite QVWC).

  • $16 on Saturday, $15 on Sunday. General carpark height 2m. There is also an open-air carpark.

  • 222 Russell Street

  • $19 online, $24 drive up (per day). Height limit 2m.


8. Bump in/out + run sheet

Saturday 17th August

7:00am to 7:30am
Hosts and volunteers setting up. Please do not arrive during this time as we'll be getting everything ready for your arrival from 7:30am!
7:30 am to 9:30 am
Artists may arrive and set up from 7:30am.
Check in process on Ground level information desk:
Our hosts/volunteers will be there to welcome you, check your name off, and direct you to your tables. Your lanyards and along with a welcome pack will be on your table.
Please have your set up ready by 9:40am.9:45 am
Day 1 morning announcement from us on Level 4. A volunteer of ours will remain on Ground level so all artists can be present on Level 4.

Market commences.
4:00 pm
Market day 1 ends. Artists can leave their set up overnight. Please do not leave your personal belongings behind.

QVWC locked up. We must be out by this time.


Sunday 18th August

Artists may arrive. Please be ready by 9:40am.

Day 2 morning announcement from us on Level 4. A volunteer of ours will remain on Ground level so all artists can be present on Level 4.

Artists pack up and bump out. We must be out by 6:00 pm.
Please dispose of all rubbish properly and do not leave anything behind. The tables and chairs can remain as is.


9. Table set up

Tables:
These will be set up. Approximately 180cm x 75cm (1800mm x 750mm) wide. If you have half a table, you will have half the length (around 90cm x 75cm / 900mm x 750mm).
Chairs:
Artists with full tables will have 2 chairs. If you do not need the extra chair, please let us know.
Artists with half tables will have 1 chair. Please let us know if you require a 2nd chair.


  • You are responsible for providing your own tablecloth and display items. Please ensure they are clean and not damaged.

  • You are only allowed to sell art/products that you have created. On-selling another artists products is prohibited.

  • You are required to be present during opening/trading hours and we ask that you do not pack up early as it can be disruptive to your fellow artists.

  • Public liability insurance ($10 million coverage) is required for all sellers for the duration of the market. Please send this to [email protected] by July 31st 2024.

  • Please do not stick anything on the walls or floors. There are no back walls for this event.

  • Do not place any racks or displays off/around your table unless this has been pre-arranged with us (for overall safety and consideration of your fellow artists). Please note we will ask you to stow away any items that are off your table without pre-approval.

  • Cancellations by July 17th, 2024 will be given a full refund. After this date we will do our best to find replacements and refund you where possible.


  • Oh My Hues is not responsible for any lost/stolen items at the event.

  • Oh My Hues does not allow AI, plagiarised or NSFW art.


10. Artist snack bar

We will have some complimentary bottled water and bite-size snacks available for you (granola bars, savoury treats). If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please fill out the form and let us know as soon as possible.


11. Photos / Videos

There will be photos and videos taken during the event that will be uploaded to a gallery and/or shared on Oh My Hues social media. This content may be used to promote future events.If you do not wish to be part of the event photography/videography, please email us at [email protected] to advise and we will do our best to shoot around you (note that you may still appear in the background).

Hi friends,Thank you so much for volunteering your time to help us at our art market! Here is all the information we think you'll need in the lead up.We will create a WhatsApp chat group that we will exit and delete after the event because no one likes to be the first to leave 🤣


General

Please wear comfy clothes & shoes!We don't have any secure area to lock our belongings so for bags, either leave it in your car or bring something small that you can have on you at all times.If you need to store your bag somewhere, put it under the info desk on level 4 as it'll be away from the entrance. Don't leave anything of value in there please!


Parking

Please Google and double check the prices and details in case they have been updated since the time this is published:

Electronics

We might not have easy access to electrical outlets so if you have powerbanks, please charge and bring them!Di, Kiran, Iain, Johnny to download Humanitix for hosts app and log in with our info so you can scan people in.Music on L4 will be played from a QVWC laptop and will be plugged in near Table 16 / Table 17. They have Spotify and we use their account.Music on G floor will need to be connected via mobile Bluetooth to Spotify (Olivia/Dan, we will ask you to connect your phone). They will give us a portable speaker.


Dinner on Sat 17th

We've booked dinner at 5:30pm at Old Beijing (right next door to QVWC). We would love to take you as a thank you from us.Totally understand if you want to get away from everyone by the end of the day so no pressure 😂 But also.. just look at the menu 😋
